Training delivery
I have led training within universities and colleges, and have also offered standalone training for charities and small CICs in London. My expertise includes co-production, film-making, communications strategies for non-profits.
I can deliver training for your teams and develop training to support your needs. If you’re interested in my most recent training course or would like to discuss developing something specific for your organisation - please get in touch.
Everything you wanted to know about video communications but were too afraid to ask….
This was a series of training sessions that I ran over three years, funded by the Trust for London and which covered how and why organisations should use video in their communications. They were ran online and in-person primarily from small charities working in London. Sessions were designed to assist not-for-profit organisations with campaign strategy. Many charities want to use video content but lack the relevant skills in-house. This was an opportunity to bring a particular problem a team was grappling with and I worked with them to propose some creative processes to build into their communication strategies.
“Really informative webinar and one that unexpectedly gave me the confidence to believe video and film is definitely the way forward to promote our work and message. I think lots of smaller charities will really benefit from this type of information”.
I spent time looking at a range of different formats and campaigns, talked about how to work out the right format for campaigns and how to calculate the budget for different projects. I looked at how to make sure you were being true to your organisation, creatively. I also discussed ways of being creative if you don’t have much (any?) budget, with a range of top tips and warnings!
With my background working across education and third sector, think tanks and publishing, I understand exactly the kinds of messaging you need, whether you’re a charity, a non-profit or an educational organisation. I can help you create films to start conversations. Whether you need to create something for a new campaign, enable your audience to access your resources or tell people about your events – nothing gets your message over faster than a video.
“Having Sarah's creative take on things and knowledge of techniques, equipment, and what others are doing with video was so helpful and like a breath of fresh air! As a team of 1 working part-time, it was really valuable to have this kind of input”.
The session included:
• Why video is important
• Some examples of different impactful videos
• Different forms - how much they cost and the pros and cons of using them
• We'll talk through different issues around budgets
• How to get your projects funded including sources
• The pros and cons of getting videos made if you have no budget
• Commissioning work from external organisations
